Với nhiệm vụ chính là chọn tạo được các giống lúa mới có năng suất cao, chất lượng tốt phục vụ sản xuất,giống lúa VN20 được Viện Nghiên cứu và Phát triển cây trồng, Học viện Nông nghiệp Việt Nam chọn tạo thành công thông qua lai hữu tính và chọn lọc phả hệ từ tổhợp lai E15S/Hương cốm (R2). Giống VN20 có thời gian sinh trưởng 135-138 ngày và năng suất đạt 5,8-7,0 tấn/ha trong vụ Xuân; 112-115 ngày và 5,0-5,5 tấn/ha trong vụ Mùa. Ngoài ra, giống VN20 nhiễm nhẹ sâu bệnh, hạt gạo thon dài (tỷ lệ dài/rộng 3,66), nhiệt độ hoá hồ cao, hàm lượng amylose thấp (12,6%) và có mang gen thơm fgr. Như vậy, việc lai giữa dòng bất dục đực di truyền nhân mẫn cảm nhiệt độ thơm với giống lúa thuần chất lượng, chọn lọc phả hệ có thể chọn tạo được giống lúa thuần chất lượng cao phù hợp với điều kiện canh tác ở các tỉnh phía Bắc, Việt Nam.

Development of High Quality Inbred Rice Cultivars VN20for Northern Region of Vietnam 

ABSTRACT

 For breeding new high yieldand quality rice varieties for contributing to the recent variety distribution,the VN20 rice cultivar was developed by the Crops Research and Development Institute ofVietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) from thecross segregating populationsbetween E15S and Huong com (R2) lines by the pedigree method. As a result, the VN20 rice cultivars hashad some good agronomical traits, such as short duration, from 135-138 days and yield of 5.8-7.0 tons/ha in the spring season; 112-115 days and yield of 5.0-5.5 tons/ha in the summer season. Additionally, the VN20 hasshown good resistance tosomemajor pests, diseases, and slender grain (length/width ratio 3.66), highgelatinization temperature, low amylose content (12.6%) and carried the fgraromatic gene.Thus, the breeding through cross thehybrid between between aromatic Thermo-sensitive Genic Male Sterile (TGMS) line and high quality rice inbred variety, and was selected by thepedigree method which can generated new rice variety, has good quality and suitable cultivation conditionsin northern of Vietnam.
